Review of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 (2010) by Sanchayan S — 06 Jan 2014
Harry Potter Deathly Hallows part 1 is my favorite movie in the saga. Let me tell you - all of the negatives and criticism of David Yates in his opening two movies is now gone as he has learned from the mistakes. A enriching script and an excellent screenplay ensures the story drives forward and does not feel like a collection of scenes. The direction is excellent - the tone of the movie is extremely dark as it is supposed to be. Matured performances from Daniel Radcliffe , Rupert Grint and Emma Watson. The focus of the movie is now on the main characters and that is why the movie swells in stature . Its no more a teen flick . Its none with proper tension , serious plot and a death feeling moving around the length of the film. Emotionally and visually this film is a fiesta , with some really moving moments specially the climax. Even Voldemort looked and felt scary which was missing in the previous movies .
Although high fantasy is no more there but it is the fault of the book and not the movie . The movie tried to keep all the good elements of the franchise bringing some of the old themes that prospered in Rowling's creation .The ending as predicted is a huge cliffhanger and one really will wait for the final chapter of the 10 year saga with great anticipation.
