Review of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002) by Stefan G — 26 Jul 2013

In general, it's not as good as its predecessor, but it has its moments. The characters are still quite good, but I find the film's new "defence against the dark arts teacher" to be quite an unlikeable jackass, especially when he turns out to be a fraud.

Also, I find that Harry's voice is unrealistically deep in tone for a 12-year-old. The story does try to be better, and to be fair, it gets darker than its predecessor. However, it seems to have been overly convoluted for the sake of panning it out for over 2 1/2 hours.

The set pieces still look good, but not in the same eye-catching way. Come to think of it, this isn't quite as catchy as the first movie, and is more enjoyable for children.
