Review of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002) by Wesley L — 14 Dec 2013
The story is about Harry who is urging to go back to Hogwarts after his aunt and uncle hold him back and a house elf named Dobby tells him to stay in the Muggle world which is what they call non-magic folks because there is danger lurking in the school this year.
But he is rescued by Ron and his family to get to the school when they bewitch a car because they cannot catch the train that leads them to the school. During school, he can hear voices through the wall and people are getting petrified.
He finds out from the teachers that there is a hidden Chamber known as The Chamber Of Secrets and it has been opened again meaning that it has been opened before. The only way he could find out the details is disguise themselves as a different house group and enter their common room to find out the details to what happened that day.
The students also suspect that he is the heir as he can understand the voices he can hear which is Parseltongue known as snake language and using it against the other students. When Harry and Ron find a trail of spiders, they follow it into the woods where they meet Aragog who is Hagrid's giant pet spider and he reveals more secrets about the chamber.
They go to see Hermione who is one of the petrified victims of the monster that lives in the chamber, They take a piece of paper out of her hands which turns out to be the notes about the chamber she was studying whilst Harry went for Quidditch practice.
They find out that the monster is a snake named the Basilisk and can only kill people who come from non-magic families by looking at them in the eyes. They also find out that the victim was in fact a ghost who has been living in the girls' toilets named "Moaning Myrtle" and as they ask her how she died, she points out to the sink saying she once saw a pair of great big yellow eyes.
Guessing that these sinks are the opening to the chamber, they go down there also to rescue Ron's younger sister, Ginny from the Basilisk only to find out that Tom Riddle, revealed to be Lord Voldemort was behind all of this chaos and forced her to open the chamber, wrote death threats on walls and set the snake on four Mudbloods which is a foul name for Muggles and the caretaker's cat and wrecked his bedroom so that she can find Tom's diary and keep it.
Harry defeats the snake and Tom, escapes the chamber with Ginny and Ron using their head professor Dumbledore's pet phoenix Fawkes. The petrified students are cured with mandrake juice, the chamber is closed and Harry's house group has earned it's success while his arch enemy house group get the downfall as Hagrid who was the second suspect of the chamber returns back to Hogwarts as the first suspect were their arch enemy Draco.
Out of all the Harry Potter movies, This one is my favourite of them all and there are a lot of reasons for that. 1. The plot is a lot more stronger and fascinating than the first film. In the first film, it's just setting up the characters.
In this film, everything's upgraded more. 2. The creatures and fantasy elements are much more brilliant and fantasizing pretty much for the same reasons as well. 3. This is the most important of all.
Harry not just a kid anymore, He's a hero! We also find out in this movie that Voldemort put a bit of himself into Harry which was the most interesting bit. Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets gets a pure 10/10.
