Don't think "Death Wish" Its more Gran Torino with less sentimentality. Michael Caine is a retiree dieing of emphysema who had been a marine in Northern Ireland during the worst fighting.
His wife passes away and the next day his best friend is killed by some hoody punk drug dealers. It is a very slow burn with him slowly patiently set up the badies and a ending with surprising twists.
