Review of Harry Brown (2009) by Peter A — 09 Jan 2011
Tagged as a British Gran Torino I think this film is a much different beast altogether. More gritty and urban the GT and with Michael Caine in the lead role you have a more likeable character than Eastwood's semi-racist curmudgeon.
Harry Brown is an ex marine plauged by the hoodies on the run down estate where he lives. When they murder his one friend he decides to take the law into his own hands. Its a violent and depressing existence and revenge is the one thing that keeps him going.
Good acting all round but the one thing that slightly spoiled it for me was the cartooonish drug den scene that brought an unintentional laugh. Also was that the guy from Plan B as the lead hoody?
