Review of Harry Brown (2009) by Mark S — 05 May 2011
Harry Brown is an ultra gritty and edgy English crime drama starring the always brilliant Michael Caine. Caine is once again brilliant in this tense and bloody revenge film. Harry Brown is a mix of Clint Eastwood in Gran Torino, and Charles Bronson in Death Wish.
A very well made vigilante revenge caper directed by Daniel Barber, and produced by Matthew Vaughn among others. Violent as all hell and a by the book straight foreward film that kept me watching until the very end.
A little too gritty at times as it is a hardcore crime drama. Not the most original film, but it still packs heat and in your face tense bloody action throughout. Michael Caine gives another great performance as he never disappoints.
Emily Mortimer is good as well. Faint of heart be warned this one's not for everyone as it is extremely gritty.
