Review of Harold and Maude (1971) by Greg T — 30 Nov 2008
70s comedy gold - witty, absurd and approaching mythic. A gentle story of the love between a teenage death obsessive (or emo in preppy clothing) and a 79 year old woman with more vim than the rest of the characters combined is made timeless with observations that are every bit as relevant now as they were in the 70s.
Probably Hal Ashby's most momentous achievement, and criminally under-seen.
