Review of Harold and Maude (1971) by Luis G — 06 Jun 2012
One of the most endearing, weird/wonderful couples in movie history, the film itself is a dark/morbid comedy that has enough darkness within to attract the more alternative viewer whilst maintain a certain sweetness and charm that would attract any mainstream viewer.
Though at times it my be far too weird to handle, with its superb acting, uplighting soundtrack (by cat stevens) and very funny dark humour; it makes for essential viewing for anyone who likes a bit of alternate cinema.
Sometimes it can feel like an in your face motivational message kind of film but that is its only flaw as a piece of film goes, if you can put aside being told to be happy. It is really worth a watch.
