Review of Harlem Nights (1989) by Wesley G — 12 Nov 2009
Had some funny moments and the dialogue early was great but the script had no real depth and was not good overall. Richard Pryor was OK but not great. Eddie Murphy was not especially special either. The best parts of the film was Della Reese as Vera and Redd Foxx as Snake Eyes.
The banter between those two kept the film alive for me. Other than that, a prime example of why Eddie Murphy never got into directing, because Harlem Nights was not great.
