Before Troops, George Lucas In Love, and even Spaceballs, there was Hardware Wars, the original Star Wars parody short. This 1977 classic is now available to rent or own in a remastered Special Edition. It's pretty funny--basically a shortened version of Star Wars except all the spaceships are common household appliances.

Artie Deco and 4 Q 2 using the "escape pod" (a cassette) to get out of the ship (a tape player) is particularly amusing. The Falcon's an iron, and Tie Fighters are corkscrews. Princess Ann-Droid actually has cinnamon rolls stuck to the side of her head, and Fluke's lines consist almost entirely of things like "Golly" and "Gee Willakers!" Well worth the 20 minutes.
