Review of Hardcore Henry (2015) by Jy S — 09 Apr 2016
Ilya Naishuller's takes it behind the eyes in Hardcore Henry.
Story takes a backseat to the action, but the concept has potential. As for the storytelling, it is light with just enough to get by.
The visuals are what this picture is about. Using the first person point of view, Hardcore Henry provides an uncommon take on the screen. It gives the bloody violent action a fresh spin, while also providing excellent moments for some creative cinematography. With that said, watching 90 minutes from this point of view has high potential for some nausea and headache-inducing moments.
The only real standout characters are Sharlto Copley and Danila Kozlovsky. Sharlto really runs the show with some comedic moments.
Hardcore Henry does have it's moments, while the visuals has its ups and downs.
