Review of Hardcore Henry (2015) by Ryan V — 10 Apr 2016
Sure it's juvenile. Most reviews state that, as though it's a bad thing. If it wasn't juvenile it would just be violent horrifically violent, but instead we had a delightfully humorous and gratuitously violent movie A.K.A. juvenile. The soundtrack was perfect, providing many humorous backdrop notes to this well executed FPS cinematic debut. This reviewer has no video game experience and was still able to understand and appreciate every FPS reference. Sure there's not a complex convoluted story line. Man loses wife and goes on a shooting spree to try and get her back. Thankfully, Sharlto Copley was there at every turn to literally push the whole thing forward. If this was a game I have my quarters lined up for repeated play.
It's not haute cinema, but it sure as heck was fun, guilty fun.
