Review of Hardcore Henry (2015) by Lincoln W — 12 Apr 2016
This concept was exciting to me, as I've always been more interested in the story line of a video game than the actual playtime itself. This sort of gave you the experience without all the work, which I know sounds extremely lazy on my part, but I digress. I ended up going to see this in the D'Box - Active Motion seats at a Santikos Theatre. D'BOX IS THE BEST WAY TO TRULY EXPERIENCE THIS FILM. It may be the reason I'm giving it 5 stars.
Aside from the immersive, motion seats, the film itself kept me interested the whole time. I like movies when you only know as much as the main character, so half the time, you aren't exactly sure what the heck is going on. This absurdity added a comedic element to the movie that had me and my friend laughing throughout the film. As far as the poor reviews go, I think that people just went into this movie expecting too much. It's not an Oscar contender; it's an innovative idea that's meant to be fun to watch (sort of reminded me of Crank in that way).
Anyway, if you have the time and don't mind spending a little extra, then I recommend checking this out in motion seating (probably shouldn't do this if you get motion sickness). I hope this review is helpful to some and hated by others.
