Review of Hardcore Henry (2015) by Max B — 09 Apr 2016
A film that delivers on exactly what it promises and nothing more. A fast paced first person action comedy that manages to sustain its over 90 minute runtime with inventive and frequently exhilarating action, and a wonderful central performance by Sharlto Copley as Jimmy, a man who has a habit of dying horribly, but showing up again in the very next scene.
The film is definitely not for everyone. There is very little depth, if any, the plot is only there to string together the many action sequences, there's a bizarre scene at the halfway point that, while fun, feels like a rip off of the movie Gamer, and the camera work can get so chaotic, that those with sensitive stomach should steer clear.
Those who love first person games and would like to see an entire film in that format, Hardcore Henry is a sure fire winner.
