Review of Hardcore Henry (2015) by Tor M — 13 Nov 2016
Very cool first person point of view film, almost entirely shot with GoPro Hero3. I may be wrong but this may be the first full lenght action film done in this manner. Edited to look like something mostly done in one take and it works fine. Super intense and ultra violent film with over 200 deaths. If you are in for some girls a casting credit with over 30 "Girl in Brothel" on the roster may interest you.
Naturally very unrealistic. It feels like a videogame. I was nearly sweating - that describes it power and inclution in the film. On the other hand, it gets exhausting since there are no breaks here. Fittingly weird, like the dude that helps Henry and his shapeshifting. Funny at times, I like the horse scene among others.
Great intro, it looks great and gave me plenty of hope for this film. It continued to stay great for a while, but it gradually got to repitative and way too intense. The last 15 minutes or so kills much of the vibe. It's just too much.
I like the original capturing and the whole plan. I even like the execution, but it's not a film to remember as a solid film or a game changer. It's an intense ride that got some nice touches.
6 out of 10 shots of adrenaline.
