Review of Hard Target (1993) by Benjamin P — 04 Aug 2008
This film challenges me. It sends out messages that no other film dare. The plot is tight and completely unique. The villains are perfect, each loving the role. Lance Henriksen turns in a career-best, holding his hand gun like a snooker-cue.
The use of John Woo slow-motion does not go unappreciated. I want to watch Yancy Butler's slow-mo eyes light up as she looks snake in the eyes. Van-Damme is superb as per. His fighting is brilliant, as are his tight jeans and timberlands.
His hair is unforgivable but we'll let it pass. The smaller villains are also just as impressive. "Tell that bitch to point her titties North and get the fuck out of dodge,....DO-IT-TODAY!!!" I want to watch this film every two years.
Sorry, can't forget, as Tom says, Graeme Revell's bluegrass score is so perfect.
