Review of Hard Eight (1997) by Will G — 11 Jun 2007
Another great PT Anderson film. Considering it's so hard to find and it was PT's first picture, I wasn't expecting much, but it really surprised me. John C. Reilly's performance was extremely good, and Philip Baker Hall, who I usually can't stand, did extremely well also.
This film furthered my obsession with Anderson. It's weird, because I can't really point out one thing that makes this movie great, but when I just think about when I was watching it, I was just euphoric at just how great it was.
The fact that there are only really four characters in the film, one of which you don't even see a whole lot, yet the plot still remains interesting, has me at awe.
