Review of Hard Eight (1997) by Jon C — 02 Nov 2007
While it leaves a little to be desired in climax/conclusion/development, this is a tremendous first effort at a feature length film from the ever-terrific P.T. Anderson. Witty, snarling dialogue, intense situations, crumbling characters, and a trademark visual style all make Sydney (or Hard Eight) something to admire.
Philip Baker Hall is also one bad dude.
