Review of Hard Eight (1997) by Stephen L — 16 Jan 2008
Can't believe I forgot this one until now. This is one of the best debut films in a very long time. The fact that Anderson can keep you hooked in when there's nothing but dialogue going on makes this so amazing.
Philip Baker Hall gives his best performance. Great characters, an interesting noir-ish story, and terrific writing make this a must see. You really get to see where so many things from his other films come from.
Really great, can't recommend this enough.
