Review of Hard Eight (1997) by Gabe M — 01 Feb 2008
A very simple film, with really only four main actors involved -- that is, involved with some of the greatest acting ever recorded on film. PT Anderon's debut film, Hard Eight's simplicity is highlighted and perhaps in places overcome by its intensity of emotion.
If you have a heart with blood that is at least lukewarm, there is a scene near the end that will bring tears to your eyes. A great narrative on forgiveness, fatherhood, and our constant struggle to overcome failure and live beyond our guilt.
