I was a little taken back at the slow pace of this movie. I really had no idea where it was going. That's kind of the point ,I think. Anderson didn't want us to be fueled by plot in this movie.
He knew that the well-written and acted characters would be enough to mesmerize from the start and keep us hooked in. Everyone gave wonderful performances in this but most of all, Phillip Baker Hall. A really great debut from one of my favorite directors.
