Review of Hard Eight (1997) by Garth D — 03 May 2008
Hard Eight is the first feature by the up-and-coming master Paul Thomas Anderson. In this film Phillip Baker Hall (in a brilliant role and his first since Secret Honor) takes a young couple (Jon C. Riley and Gwenyth Paltrow) under his wings when things get rough.
There are some twists and turns but it is more than fun to see a young auteur at the top of his writing skills.
