Review of Hard Eight (1997) by Evan G — 20 Jun 2008
Hard Eight was writer director Paul Thomas Anderson's first feature film and it he was just as confident behind the camera than as he is now. It is a great movie which sports great performances, great dialogue, and slow but perfect pacing.
The single weak spot in this movie is the ending but it still doesnt ruin it, at least not for me. This is definitely one of if not the most impressive writing/directing debuts that I have ever seen.
