Review of Hard Eight (1997) by Chris W — 08 Aug 2008
Here lie the seeds of Anderson's career,a film that was dicked about by it's distributor,despite being a cracking little noirish thriller.Hall gives one of his best performances here,while the screenplay sizzles with a real natural style(Anderson really has thought out how to take a casino for a couple of grand),while cinemtography and editing are excellant,again laying the foundations for the collaborators who would later help Anderson become one of the most important film makers of his generation.
Well worth a second look.
