This really should be up my ally - dark, broody, slow paced, great acting (even John C. Reilly which I don't generaly like managed to perform decent) and spot on dialogue, but I don't know.... It lacks something.
I don't know what it is. Hard Eight feels bland and in dire need of some spice. As is, it's just ok. Nothing more.
