Philip Baker Hall is among the greatest living American actors. So often he plays the hilarious, dirty old man, but as we see in films like Hard Eight, he is also capable of performances that have incredible dramatic power.
Pitted against another great character actor, Samuel L. Jackson, this short film with tiny scope resonates deeply long after the quiet, reflective final shots. With John C. Reilly and Gwyneth Paltrow giving solid performances.
