Review of Hard Eight (1997) by Clinton R — 09 Dec 2011
Having seen all of P.T. Andersons films before seeing this I new I was in for a show. Admittedly I had high expectations. From the opening shot of the camera tailing Sidney's left hand as he walked towards a centered slouched man named Jon, I could tell I was going to love this film.
All four actors turn out great performances and a story so detailed in true P.T. Anderson style that perhaps this along with perhaps Blood Simple is one of the best directorial debuts in the last 20 years.
