Review of Hard Candy (2005) by John A — 29 Jun 2014
Director David Slade's Debut, Is A Brilliant But Maybe Disturbing Original Story. The Film Follows 14 Year Old Haley (Ellen Page), Who Meets With Geoff (Patrick Wilson) After Meeting On The Internet.
What Follows Is A Nightmare For Geoff & He Has No One To Blame But Himself. Geoff Is A Pedophile, Who Takes The Wrong Girl Back To His House As She Drugs Him & Holds Him Hostage In His Own House.
This Film Is A Slow-Burner, And Somewhat Boring At Some Scenes. It's Also A Great Film In That It Shows, One Of The Most Hated Kind Of Criminals Getting What They Deserve. There Is One Scene In Particular However, Which Viewers May Find Difficult To Watch.
This Is A Film Where You Actually Root For The Annoying Teen Character, Because The Victim Of This Home Invasion Is A Pedophile, And You Want Him To Be Dealt With In This Manner. The Film Has A Great Plot, And Features Great Performances From Both Ellen Page & Patrick Wilson.
