Review of Harakiri (1962) by Wayne I — 25 Jun 2007
A rather gritty and unadorned look at the realities of Bushido, stripping away some of the mysticism surrounding the Samurai and casting them in a far more human, and ultimately fallible, light. The drama proceeds at a steady and inexorable pace, yet is not without a few unexpected twists and turns, especially toward the climax of the film.
Well filmed and acted throughout.
