Ever watched a movie that tells a story in such a manner that makes you part of it? - this is one. The narrative, direction and picturization of the story (even though the story isn't anything unique) from Takashi Miike, really places this picture apart form the rest.
2 points that I would kinda mark against it is story (however gets compensated by picturization and direction) and Takashi Miike's tendency to sometimes pull/extend considerably the 'gore' element out of any particular scene.
