Review of Happy-Go-Lucky (2008) by Sarah P — 30 Jun 2009
I think this movie is kind of a single-girl-thing.
I admire her "just keep swimming" mentality.
She's clearly as unhappy as the lot of us (which hawkins manages to leak out marvelously) but her attitude is really admirable.
Don't mistake it for immaturity! it's simply a much healthier way of dealing with the world's heartache and depressions. much better than bursting out in violence towards one another (a juxtaposition to jason-the-mom-boyfriend or the driving instructor).
Though she doesn't seem like someone who should be considered for a heroine, she truly is. in a world where happiness can be hard to find, sometimes you just gotta will it on yourself. :).
