Review of Happy-Go-Lucky (2008) by Majo V — 02 Aug 2009
Poppy Cross could easily have come off as an unwatchable character, but actress Sally Hawkins and director Mike Leigh infuse her with an unquenchable positivity that's hard to hate. Eddie Marsan is also excellent as Scott, Poppy's dour driving instructor.
The film takes these characters in surprising directions.
