British films in general and Mike Leigh's films in particular are usually poignant, daring, smart or darn right funny. "Happy-Go-Lucky" with its most annoying giggle I heard so far in cinema and flat characters, is kind of a disappointment.
Eddie Marsan's role is what keeps the film afloat.
