Review of Happy-Go-Lucky (2008) by Loreto V — 03 Jan 2010
We all know those people, the perpetually happy, and more often than not we just want to kill them. But then you see a movie like this, and a character like Poppy, and you ask yourself "why?". What's so wrong with trying to make somebody's day a little brighter?
Hawkins is, as everybody seems to agree, great. But the movie has a great supporting cast as well, especially Eddie Marsan as the tightly wound (putting it mildly) driving instructor. Yes, it is a comedy, but not a brainless one and it has a larger message, what is true happiness?
