Review of Happy-Go-Lucky (2008) by James K — 04 Jan 2011
I have to say, usually I love a nice inconclusive not-much-happening movie, but I felt almost brutally let-down by how this just tails off. It's not essential for movies to have a message, but if this does, it can only be "Being nice is good, except some people aren't worth the effort".
A lot of strong performances, not least of all from a fantastic lead two of Sally Hawkins and the excellent Eddie Marsan, and a lovely English real-world council-estate 'Amelie' feel all add up to.
.. sadly, not much.
