Review of Happy-Go-Lucky (2008) by Jacky L — 18 Jun 2011
Not every film can be for everybody and this is just another case. Critics raved about this but it didn't impress me all that much. I loved the shots capturing beautiful scenery and that was about it.
The story did develop after a rather long while of introducing how happy-go-lucky Sally Hawkins' character really was. Sadly, that story wasn't all that good in my opinion. I expected way more from this after reading/hearing good stuff about it.
I see what it was trying to do, just that it didn't do it for me. Nonetheless, it's a pretty good piece of British cinema that will find its way into the hearts of some.
