Review of Happy-Go-Lucky (2008) by Tim M — 28 Jun 2009
I thought this was a pretty enjoyable and funny little character study, where Sally Hawkins (justly nominated for an Oscar) plays a slightly annoying, but nonetheless adorable optimist trapped in a pessimistic society.
It's not really "about" anything other than a few various adventures in her life (like dealing with a driving instructor who's the complete opposite of her, or a kid in her class with anger issues), but Hawkins' character is so fascinating to watch that she effortlessly carries the movie.
