Review of Happy Gilmore (1996) by Erik G — 24 Jan 2012
Fore! The tempered and angered 'Happy Gilmore' not only plays golf for fun...he also destroys golf for fun! From the ice hockey rink to the golfing tournament, Happy plays it as a way to earn prize money just to buy his grandma's house back from the IRS. And even he's out of the rink, Happy still acts like a hockey player when he hits other players, all in humorous moments that made me laugh! :-) All of these funny moments make a really great sports comedy.
Directed by Dennis Dugan, 'Happy Gilmore' has very good acting performances. Adam Sandler plays the titular character, responsible for creating his own media sensation among fans. Other featured stars include Frances Bay as Happy's grandma, Julie Bowen as Happy's love interest Virginia, Carl Weathers as Happy's trainer Chubbs, and Christopher McDonald as Happy's annoying opponent Shooter McGavin. Even former 'The Price Is Right' host Bob Barker stars himself playing at the golf tour as well!
I give four stars for this Adam Sandler comedy. Go ahead and check out 'Happy Gilmore' today.
