Review of Happy Feet Two (2011) by Chris H — 12 Jul 2012
The second instalment of the Happy Feet series just doesn't share the magic of the first. It could be the surprise factor is simply missing, since we know the majority of the characters already, but everything seems to fall flat in comparison.
The first movie used up all the clever, well-placed jokes and left only mildly amusing puns for the sequel, and the same could be said for the music. It's not due for lack of talent, with the original voice cast joined by Pink, Matt Damon, Brad Pitt and Sofia Vergaras.
It's just all round pretty disappointing, although the animation is as pretty as ever, with the krill's input providing for some interesting scenes, visually if not story-wise. There's no flow, no spark, and little that will stay in the memory.
