Review of Happy Feet Two (2011) by Robert J S — 24 Oct 2013
Penguins of the world unite!
In Happy Feet, Mumbles was an outcast from the penguins because he couldn't sing; rather, he was an excellent dancer which penguins aren't known for. He later found his calling, fell in love, and started a family. Mumble's son, Erik, has a similar issue as his dad, he can't sing but he doesn't know what his special skill is. Can Erik work with his friends to figure out what makes him special?
"There's only one of me in the entire world. I'm one in a krillion.".
George Miller, director of Mad Max, Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome, Road Warrior, The Witches of Eastwick, Lorenzo's Oil, Babe: Pig in the City, Happy Feet, and the upcoming Mad Max: Road to Fury, delivers Happy Feet 2. The storyline for this picture is fairly straightforward and lacked creativity. The songs were also more current than classic and were a bit cliché. The voices were well selected and include Elijah Wood, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Robin Williams, Pink, Common, and Hugo Weaving.
"A predator convention...why wasn't I invited?
I actually watched this with my daughter off Netflix recently. She enjoyed the original so I thought we would give this a shot. Unfortunately, this was kind of bland and boring. This seemed forced and is one of those sequels that felt forced and a bit rushed. I thought this movie was just okay, only worth watching once, and I wouldn't add it to my DVD collection.
"This Mr. Up is going down.".
Grade: C-.
