It's an exploitation of the fact that penguins are considered to be cute. Not much more. They needed a penguin movie so they came up with some random ideas and put them in. Sometimes random things happen just so that you can see a pointless yet fun animation of penguins sliding, falling, swimming and so on and so forth.

You can enjoy this movie but only when don't put much thought into it. Also, I'm sick and tired of animated movies showing how evil man is to the animal world. If you want to see a good animated penguin movie, watch Surf's Up.
