Review of Happy Endings (2014) by Jialan W — 23 Nov 2007
This overlooked gem rises far above the intersecting-storyline genre from which it springs. It strikes just the right balance of pathos and humor, and each character is imbued with humanity as opposed the vacuous quirk and shrill self-involvement far too common in these types of films.
And Maggie Gyllenhaal's revelatory singing just seals the deal.
