Review of Happy Death Day (2017) by Richard S — 03 May 2018
Happy Death Day is the unfortunate offspring of Groundhog Day and Scream. The premise appealed to me, I've seen many decent time loop stories from Groundhog Day to episodes of Star Trek and X-Files that have all done this well. I'm also a fan of the slasher movie if done well. This however was a bit of a mess, it starts with a completely unlikable central character and so you cease to care after the first death and then we find a lot of misplaced humour and a complete lack of suspense.
Blumhouse have been producing a lot of decent horrors recently. This however, is not one of them.
