Review of Happiness Is a Warm Blanket, Charlie Brown (2011) by Deanna B — 02 Jun 2011
Happiness Is A Warm Blanket, Charlie Brown claims to be an original movie, but it's pretty much like watching an animated Peanuts comic book, as there are a lot of little subplots that occur with a setup and payoff.
It's good if you're a fan and to the film's credit, I think for the first time in the Peanuts movie series, I have laughed out loud more than once. The animation looks crisper and clean, which sort of loses some of the low-budget charm of the Christmas special, but it's still an appealing short that doesn't butcher the characters (although I wish Snoopy appeared more.
.. but this is Linus's story). But for a series that has spanned a few decades, it's still funny and this film even references the first Peanuts strip ever printed.
