Review of Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters (2013) by Naranek K — 08 Nov 2013

I'm just gonna say it, because I can. This movie gets a lot of shit and that is undeserved.

1) It's not intended to be Shakespeare, it's meant to be stupid, violent fun. Nothing serious.

2) If you expected brilliance, drama on the scale of The King's Speech or the intelligence of Inception; you are an idiot.

3) It intends to be a stupid action movie and for the most part. The action is frantic and well done. It's not as good as Transformers or even Terminator 2. But it still entertains.

4) Alright, fine, the acting is not brilliant which sort of gives the stupidity a cold feeling and it slows down. But even the most moronic of actioners needs a plot.

5) The special effects in the movie are fairly decent, but not brilliant. In comparison to modern standards, this is a bit embarrassing. Especially considering the quality of Jurrassic Park's special effects. They were detailed and very well animated.

Overall, this movie is something you should rent. It's 88 minutes long which is quite brief, so I cannot justify purchase of this movie unless it's in the bargain bin.

One more note, I drew comparisons towards other, more popular movies. I want you to keep in mind that I acknowledge their superiority - but there are some movies which require their own comparisons.
