Most people giving this movie low scores, I believe, miss the point of it. This is a semi-dry American quasi-slapstick comedy. It's fun fluff that pretends to take itself seriously, but blatantly does not in its undertone.
It was never meant to be a 'good' story. It's more like a grand SNL sketch absurdly mocking the fairy tale. In this light, it is a masterpiece of farce. I give it 5 stars for achieving this.
Don't take this movie seriously. Expect total disregard for the classic fairy tale genre, and you won't be disappointed.
