Review of Hannibal (2001) by Orlando N — 14 Jan 2010
An extremely gruesome follow-up to Silence of the Lambs which favors the dark and macabre over the more psychologically provoking original.Scott does well enough with his take on the next chapter in the Hannibal story, even if it's more of a chase movie for the majority of the film.
Oldman was definitely disturbing as Verger.Moore did a passable job as Clarice Starling, but was nothing compared to Foster in the original. The main highlight, as well as the main marketing ploy behind this film was the return of Hopkins to his most famous role.
And he certainly did not disappoint, for it is always a treat to see him as Dr. Lecter in any film.
