Review of Hannibal (2001) by Lee B — 06 Aug 2010
Very different from The Silence Of The Lambs, Hannibal include several new, intriguing themes. The material is lacking in quality at some points in the film, but Anthony Hopkins performance upholds the flaws in his most famous role as Hannibal Lecter.
Hannibal is scary at points also with the make-up effects used on Gary Oldman who is portraying the disfigured Mason Verger. As an adaptation, it's strong but as a film it's average. It's worth watching for fans of the series obviously, but for me it doesn't add anything to the story from Red Dragon and The Silence Of The Lambs.
