Review of Hannibal (2001) by Cody H — 04 Aug 2011
I very much enjoyed this film adaptation of Thomas Harris's novel. More so, in fact, than the novel itself. I felt that the film really helped "trim the fat," so to speak, that really weighed down the novel.
Instead, the film focused on the action and characters that were actually significant, while the book liked to focus on things far less important. The end, also, was vastly superior in the film in that, I felt, it stayed far more truer to the character of Clarice Starling.
I remember being quite disgusted with the conclusion of the novel. The film in general excelled in direction, acting, effects, and practically every other way.
