Review of Hannibal (2001) by Bill T — 27 Feb 2012
Although it's well made, acting is right on, and well plotted. It's still a real sloigger to sit though, just because the whole thing is so goddamn depressing. This is part of the "Depressing cop/serial killer" movies that was all the rage in the late 90's early 00's.
On its own, it's a very interesting sequel to Silence Of The Lambs, Anthony Hopkins certainly has a lot more to do this time round, and Jullianne Moore plays.. an interesting replacement Clarice Starling, (though I do prefer Jodie Foster more).
. I just don't like it because hardly anyone is appealing character-wise. It's just all so glum.
